Today’s review is about the movie “Spotlight” from Tom McCarthy, this drama movie was realised in 2015. It is an American movie, with Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber and Stanley Tucci are the main characters.
This movie is about a team of journalist how are working for the famous newspaper Boston Globe at the department “Spotlight”. The mission for the journalist at this time is to open the eyes of the readers about the priests, how they act with the children… The team will try to find a lot of people to testify about their past, and their experiences with certain priests who abused them as children.
When the movie got me:
I really enjoy this movie because during the whole movie I felt the feeling of being in the shoes of a journalist and feeling how difficult it can be to hear all this terrible testifies that the people lived. But at the other hand it is beautiful to see that because of the hard work that the journalist give during the movie, they help the people to speak and relieve them.
The first testify that they played in the movie was for me the hardest. This testify was present by a guy how explain how one of the priest start to touch him when he was only 10 year old… But also, it is during this scene that I felt that I was really in the movie and start to understand the big problem that the journalism will have to solve, and this is not to be taken lightly.
To conclude the review, I will recommend you this movie, in spite of the strange mood that you can feel that the film gives. This feeling is because of the terrible things that the people have experienced and share to the newspaper, but it is really brave of them and that what’s make the whole touching story. It is not a children movie, it is for people from 16 years I would say because of the difficulty of the subject. But it was a very interesting film, also very deep with all this testifies.
